The Giant Floating Head is a Monster that is kept inside the Facility. It was not listed on the whiteboard, nor was it seen during the System Purge. It is portrayed by Dave Anderson, who was also the lead creature designer.

Physical Description and Attributes[]

The Giant Floating appears as a larger-than-normal human head, alive and conscious despite the rest of its body from the neck-down being absent for some reason. The head is male, and appears to be of Persian or other Middle Eastern descent. The head is bald, has golden eyes and matching hooped earrings. The Head also has a goatee for facial hair. The origins of the Giant Floating Head became what is now is unknown. It's possible the Head could have some supernatural or magical abilities, such as telekinesis, since it is unable to grab or restrain its victims without the use of arms. Biting could also be a method of attack.

It is unknown what item from the Cabin's cellar summons it.

Appearances[]

The only time the Giant Floating Head is seen is in the scene where the camera pans out to reveal the rest of the Monsters in the Facility. It can also be seen in behind the scenes footage, where lead creature designer Dave Anderson explains that due to the high demand to create an array of unique Monsters, he decided to be creative and use his own head as the model for a Monster.

The Giant Floating Head was most likely inspired from Middle-Eastern folklore of supernatural spirits and genies.

  • May be a reference to Jambi the Genie, from the television show Pee-wee's Playhouse, who is a disembodied head in a golden box.
  • Other disembodied heads have appeared in low-budget horror such as the 1959 film The Brain the Wouldn't Die
