CITW - giant snake

The Giant Snake hissing after eating a Facility employee whole.

The Giant Snake is a Monster kept in the Facility. It was listed on the whiteboard and is bet on by Internal Logistics. It was released during the first wave of the System Purge and is seen twice.

Physical Description and Attributes[]

The Giant Snake appears a snake of an abnormally large size. This species of snake appears to share the characteristics of the King Cobra, Gaboon viper, Rattlesnake and an Anaconda or Python, all famously dangerous serpents. The Giant Snake may be a mutant hybrid of some sort, which is why it would be kept in the Facility.

Any number of items could conceivably summon the giant snake such as a snake's skin, a bottle of authentic snake oil, or a fossils from a snake such as a rattle or fang.

The Giant Snake was released during the first wave of the System Purge. When it exists its elevator, it wraps around a member of the Security Force, and begins to strangle him. It then grabs another security guard with its mouth and eats him whole.

During the second wave, a fleet of security guards catches a glimpse of the Giant Snake slithering out of the elevator lobby, alongside the Dismemberment Goblins. Later, a man is flung over a railing by one of the Deadites, and the Giant Snake catches him in its mouth before he hits the ground. It then hisses at the camera and the scene ends.

Snakes have occurred frequently in horror and science fiction films due to their alien appearance and often dangerous nature. Humans have also evolved to have a natural fear of snakes due to their venom and painful bites. It may be inspired by ophidiophobia, the fear of snakes.

While there have been many examples of big snakes in horror films, the most iconic and infamous is the one popularized by the film Anaconda and its sequels. Other films with giant snakes or killer snakes include:

  • Python
  • Mega Snake
  • Snakes on a Plane
  • King Cobra.
  • This particular Big Snake may also be a reference to two separate antagonists in the movie Dreamscape.
  • Giant snakes have also had supporting roles as monsters in movies such as the 1976 remake of King Kong.
  • Big snakes also appear in some video games, such as the Yawn or Iluzija from the Resident Evil series.
  • Historically, snakes are common in the myths and legends of almost all cultures that have encountered them, with prominent examples being Jörmungandr, the "World Serpent" from the Norse, Apep from Egypt, who was a personification of chaos, and the Chinese Bashe which was so enormous that it was capable of eating an elephant and other large animals.

Currently, villainous snake beings appear in some online video projects by creators such as Katie Mitchell and Vivziepop; such creations include Sir Pentious, Manda, Cockatrice, and others.
