Holden McCrea (Jesse Williams) was a college student and football teammate of Curt Vaughan who went with Curt, Jules Louden, Dana Polk, and Marty Mikalski to Curt's cousin's cabin in the woods. His role was designated "The Scholar," and, though we do not know what measures were taken to fit him more towards his role, he does wear glasses after the summoning scene and show small bouts of intellect (such as calculating distances and translating Latin.)
Personality[]
Holden doesn't have much of a compelling personality compared to the other main characters but he appears to be a quiet, sweet, and understanding young man with a decent moral conscience. He does not take advantage of seeing Dana undressing through the mirror and he doesn't pressure her into doing things she's not ready to do.
Holden's difficulty finding a definitive character does make sense however as he is a quiet football star being forced to being something that is one hundred percent different. While he is forced to be "The Scholar" of the group, he fits better with "The Athlete".
Plot[]
The Cabin[]
In the cabin, Holden finds that his room contains a one-way mirror to see into Dana's room. He tells her and they decide to switch rooms. After the Buckner Family kills Jules and Curt is persuaded to split them up in their rooms, Holden manages to break through the one-way mirror and save Dana in her room before they go into the basement.
Death[]
After the trio escape the cabin, they try to drive the RV away, but are thwarted by the tunnel collapse. After Curt dies in his attempt to jump the ravine, Holden and Dana head back to the cabin in the RV. He is talking about how they are going to escape in an attempt to calm down Dana when he is stabbed through the throat by Father Buckner from behind.
