The Ku Klux Klan, or The KKK are humanoid Monsters kept in the Facility. They are not listed on the Whiteboard, and are not seen during the System Purge.

KKK members await release in their Cube.

Physical Descriptions and Characteristics[]

They are depicted as three normal looking Ku Klux Klan members. Two are wearing the iconic white robes while the third is dressed in a red robe, one of the colors of Klan leadership, and presumably the Grand Wizard of the group. One is seen holding a noose, indicating their preferred killing method is hanging. This would be an obvious reference to the lynching of African Americans they were known to commit. Since they have no outwardly and supernatural abilities or characteristics, they fall under the category of real life horrors, being kept in the Facility for their heinous acts and hate crimes against other people.

In the Cellar, its likely a noose like the one being held by one of the members is what summons them.

Appearances[]

The KKK are not seen during the Purge, as this would spark obvious controversy from viewers of the film. However, they can be seen in the behind the scenes footage of the film. In addition, they can be seen in their Cube Prison on a monitor when Dana and Marty are looking at the monitors while hiding in the Elevator Lobby's control room.

Inspiration[]

The Ku Klux Klan is based on an actual American white-supremacist, white-nationalist terrorist organization that has its origins in the Civil War under Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest. Briefly inactive during the turn of the century due to anti-terrorist bills created under President Ulysses Grant to deter Confederate-sympathetic groups, the group was well known for murders, larceny, arson and violence from the Thirties to the Sixties up to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which they vehemently opposed. They are still active in the United States, pre-dominantly in the Southeast.
